The Olympic Museum

Last Friday, Mike took the morning off of work to go with all his girls to the Olympic Museum in Ouchy (southern part of Lausanne). It was amazing. I'm not sure if the girls loved it though because most of the exhibits were not enclosed in glass, making it very tempting to touch. Also, they just aren't old enough to get excited about the history of the Olympic Games.

Unfortunately, cameras were not allowed in this museum. The highlights for me were seeing the torches from the different games, and seeing Hussein Bolt's jersey and bib that he wore. I have to admit that I rarely remember an athlete's name, but Bolt will forever be ingrained in my mind. He's just AWESOME!

There was also an interactive exhibit that allowed us to see how "athletic" we are. Mike and I both really enjoyed a demo where you ride a stationary bike for a minute at with constant power (this is at "Lausanne" altitude). You check your heart rate and oxygen levels. Then you enter a pressurized chamber that represents being in Colorado Springs. Here, you ride the bike again for a minute at the same power, and check your stats again with the pulse oximeter. There was definitely a big difference!

It was a fun morning. We rounded off the outing with some grocery shopping WITH Mike (it was nice to have him there to help), then Mike went of to work and the girls headed home for naps.
